Turmeric Oatmeal

The way you start your morning sets the tone for the whole day. Giving your body proper nourishment with protein, fiber and healthy fats within an hour of waking up will get your metabolism running and help you make more mindful choices later. When you skip breakfast, you end up digging yourself out of deprivation mode all day long. This makes those holiday treats at work look even more appealing and that peppermint mocha latte feel like a necessity.

To make eating a balanced breakfast easy, give this turmeric oatmeal a try! The recipe serves 4, but scale it up if you want to make a big pot for out of town guests if you are hosting. The beautiful yellow color, topped with red pomegranate seeds, green pumpkin seeds, bright tangerines and snowy white coconut flakes, makes it a festive breakfast that requires minimal effort. Win!

Tip: You can also stir the turmeric honey into hot water with some fresh grated ginger for a delicious homemade tea toddy.

Turmeric Oatmeal


  • 2 cups rolled oats

  • 1/4 cup turmeric honey*

  • Toppings optional: pomegranate seeds, pumpkin seeds, shredded coconut, tangerines (use any toppings you desire)

*To make a large batch of turmeric honey mix 1 cup honey + 1 heaping tablespoon turmeric. If you prefer not to do this, just mix in 1/4 cup honey + 1 teaspoon turmeric to your cooked oatmeal.


  1. Bring 2 cups rolled oats + 4 cups water to a boil on the stovetop, reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached.

  2. Stir in turmeric honey.

  3. Dish up and top with your desired toppings!
